Small Animal CMAP System

iWorx
RS-CMAP4-SA
The RS-CMAP-SA is built specifically to study Compound Muscle Action Potential (CMAP) and Nerve Conduction Velocity.

Description

Overview

The RS-CMAP-SA is built specifically to study Compound Muscle Action Potential (CMAP) and Nerve Conduction Velocity. This system can also be used for 4-8 channels of EMG recordings, or a combination of EMG and ECG recordings. It is optimized for recording data from rodents and other small animals.

Features

The Compound Muscle Action Potential (CMAP) refers to the collective electrical response of a muscle following stimulation of its motor nerve. CMAP  studies in rodents are widely used in preclinical neuroscience and neuromuscular research to evaluate the function of motor nerves, neuromuscular junctions, and muscle. Rodent models of diseases like Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, or Peripheral Neuropathy often use CMAPs to track disease onset and progression. After sciatic nerve crush or transection, CMAP recordings can assess the degree and timing of functional nerve recovery

CMAP Advanced Module

  • Use a Stimulus Channel to mark the beginning of the stimulus

  • Mark the start and stop of the peak based on slope change, or the point where the line of maximum derivative intersects the baseline

  • Measure the Latency to the start of the peak as well  as to the Max.

Calculations include:

  • Maximum: Maximum amplitude voltage for the selected action potential.

  • Minimum: Minimum amplitude voltage for the selected action potential.

  • Latency Start : Time from start of the cycle or Stimulus to the Peak Start

  • Latency Peak : Time from start of the cycle or Stimulus to the Peak Maximum

  • Pre Max dAdt: Maximum derivative of action potential before the peak.

  • Pre Min dAdt: Minimum derivative of action potential before the peak.

  • Post Max dAdt: Maximum derivative of action potential after the peak.

  • Post Min dAdt: Minimum derivative of action potential after the peak.

  • Amplitude: Plto – PeakStartAmplitude.

  • Rise Time: Time from PeakStart to Maximum.

  • Minimum Time: Time from PeakStart to Minimum.

  • Peak Stop: Time where the peak ends.

  • Cycle Duration: Time from PeakStart to PeakStop

System Includes:

  • IX-RA-5S Data Acquisition System

  • LabScribe Data Acquisition and Analysis software

  • LabScribe EMG Analysis Module

  • Platinum Needle Electrodes

  • C-BNC-PN2 stimulator Electrodes

  • C-HVS-PN2 high voltage Electrodes
